Ingredients
- 12 oz Steak, sliced paper-thin
- 3 tbsp soy sauce + 2 tbsp brown sugar + 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic + 1 tbsp grated pear (the secret tenderizer)
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 onion, sliced
- Rice, sesame seeds, scallion, lettuce leaves
Method
- Marinate the thin-sliced Steak in the soy, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and grated pear for 20 minutes — the pear's enzymes tenderize and add sweetness.
- Get a pan or grill screaming hot and cook the Steak in a single layer, in batches, so it sears and caramelizes instead of steaming.
- Add the onion for the last minute just to soften.
- Serve over rice with sesame and scallion, or wrap in lettuce leaves ssam-style.
