Ingredients
- 1 big bowl hot cooked rice
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil + toasted sesame seeds
- 1 scallion, sliced
- Optional escalation: gochujang dab, kimchi alongside
Method
- Fry the eggs in the butter — crispy-edged, runny-yolked; the butter browning slightly is a feature, not an accident.
- Drop the hot rice in a bowl and slide the eggs on top, pouring every drop of browned butter after them.
- Season the landscape: soy sauce, sesame oil, seeds, scallion.
- Break the yolks and stir the whole bowl with conviction — glossy, golden, savory rice results.
- Eat immediately, possibly standing. Korea's beloved answer to 'there's nothing to eat' — there was, and it took eight minutes.
